Education Endowment

The Tsinghua HKS Education Fund was co-founded by HKS Education Fund Limited and Tsinghua University Education Foundation and is managed by the latter. Key beneficiaries of the Fund are migrant students, students of Xi Wang School and vocational school students. The Fund aims to nurture these students to become good citizens with proper moral concept and the ability to earn their own living.


Annual return of the Fund:

  • 20% allocated to subsidize under-privileged students of Tsinghua University
  • 80% allocated to education projects that support:
    • Vocational education
    • Primary and secondary education for students in the impoverished areas of China
    • Migrant children education


Sponsorship for Sowers Action to rebuild School in Yunnan Province


In March 2006, HKSEF undertook a joint programme with Sowers Action, a Hong Kong charity organization dedicated to the support of education for under-privileged children in China, to fund the rebuilding of a dilapidated school (Long Jing Cun Primary School) in Yunnan.



Sponsorship to Rebuild School Demolished by the Sichuan Earthquake


Soon after the May 12th Earthquake in Sichuan, HKS Education Fund Limited (through Tsinghua HKS Education Fund) allocated a fund earmarked for re-building primary schools in the stricken areas. In early June 2008, the office of Tsinghua HKS Education Fund immediately sent its team to visit Sichuan. It was then decided that the donation should go to Xujiazhen Primary School in Mian Yang. Professor Hou Sichang represented Tsinghua HKS Education Fund and signed the donation agreement with Youxian District People’s Government on 4 September 2008. The foundation-laying ceremony of Xujiazhen Primary School was held on 10 May 2009. The building of new school was completed in early 2010.



Sponsorship for Tsinghua University to build "Wei Tsing Lou"


HKSEF sponsored Tsinghua University Education Foundation to build an academic building called "Wei Tsing Lou" in the campus. The building was completed in Autumn 2009.
