Vision Care Initiative




















In light of the increasing use of electronic and mobile devices in conducting classes since the Covid pandemic, HKS Education Fund initiated the Vision Care Initiative in 2021, donating portable desktop lamps to schools, with the aim to help relieve the eye-fatigue of the teachers and students while also raising the public awareness of eye care in health and well-being.
Achievement:
As at the end of 2023, 60,000 portable desktop lamps were distributed to schools for teachers and students to help improve eyecare, covering 36 counties in Mainland China, including Yunnan, Gansu, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing, Jiangxi, Hebei, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Tibet etc.
Medical & Rehabilitation Devices






In 2021, HKS Education Fund responded to the recommendation of the National Health Commission and donated a set of computed tomography (CT) scanner to the Tsinghua University Hospital in commemoration of the 110th Anniversary of the Tsinghua University and enhancing its medical care capability and capacity to support public health during the Covid pandemic.
Objectives:
- Provide state-of-the-art medical equipment to improve diagnostic capabilities and efficiency.
- Contribute to the early detection and treatment of serious health conditions.
Impact:
Since the installation of the CT scanner, Tsinghua University Hospital has significantly improved its efficiency in attending cases, from that of 15,509 examinations in 2020 to 27,380 in 2023, and successfully identified early symptoms or diagnoses of malignant tumours between 45 and 121 cases each year.
Rehabilitation Devices Donation
In 2019, HKS Education Fund donated to Tsinghua University 13 rehabilitation devices focusing on body maintenance including muscle recovery, cardio system, sleep quality etc. The devices have been installed on the Tsinghua campus for use by students, faculty staff and retirees as well as their families.
Gift of Warmth








HKS Education Fund collaborated with Tsinghua University Foundation and distributed 19,356 pieces of cardigans to teachers in rural provinces, including Qinghai, Xinjiang etc., appreciating their contribution to education with the gift of warmth. commitment of capital social enterprises in supporting rural education and the well-being of the contributors.
Elderly Wellness & Health Care








To commemorate the 113th Anniversary of Tsinghua University in 2004, HKS Education Fund supported the establishment of the Tsinghua Elderly Culture and Health Care Fund with the objective to enrich the lifestyle, wellness and health care of the elderly. In 2024, HKS Education Fund again helped to establish an Elderly Education Development Fund for Tsinghua’s College for Senior Citizens supporting not only the culture, education, wellness and health of the retired elderly, but also to promote activities in facilitating fruitful interactions with the younger generations, sharing with them their lifetime valuable experience and lessons learned.
Key Activities:
Funding projects that support the elderly in pursuing their talent, knowledge and experience in writing, photography, calligraphy, painting, etc., either individually or in groups, and that the outstanding pieces being published or displayed at various functions. This initiative has brought positive impact on mental wellness and confidence in their late stages of life, while also contributing their expertise and knowledge to society.
Impact:
As of March 2024, there were 43 projects implemented or in progress, and these works of painting, calligraphy, and photography by the elderly were showcases of their talents and inspirations being recognised by the community.
