Enhancing Rural Education through Digital Transformation

Prof. Yang Fang, Tsinghua University, witnessed how the Rural Teachers Training Programme supported by HKS Education Fund had helped transform the on-site classroom teaching model at rural areas and fostering to multiple digital channels, inviting resources from different levels and countries to enrich the curriculum, broadening the horizons of the participants, expanding the learning community, knowledge transfers, improving the collaboration cross borders and generations.

Brightening Future Generations with a Spark

Huang Yufei wrote to HKS Education Fund in 2023, when he was a second-year PhD student at Westlake University, expressing his gratitude for the support given in continuing his education. Mr Huang, raised in Mianyang, Sichuan, received a grant from HKS Education Fund dedicated to education and community rebuilding due to the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. This early exposure to philanthropy had led him to join the university’s public welfare club and further understand the vision of HKS Education Fund, including re-investing in society.

Shaping Children's Character and Quality - The Power of Music

During the observation class, I heard the children’s choir singing with great team spirit. Their music was filled with purity, charisma, dreams, and aspirations for the future. Their collaboration was seamless, echoing and supporting each other during the parts. This well demonstrated that music could nurture their aesthetic ability and artistic literacy while also shaping their character, building their integrity, confidence, and persistence on their path of growth.

Transforming in Children's Behaviour and Values

The 3-minute Aixuetang micro animated courses on moral education, broadcast before regular classes, have greatly improved the behaviour of the students and their understanding of family values. Children with rebellious behaviour are no longer skipping classes and now happily assisting their parents with household chores at home.

Popularising Science Education

The Tsinghua-Weixin Science Forum focuses on training teachers in rural areas via online platforms, particularly in revolutionary old areas, border regions, and ethnic minority districts. This initiative helps in enhancing their science knowledge and revitalise rural education.

Revitalising and Supporting Farmers and the Underprivileged

Mr Shu Fajun, from Liangshan, Sichuan, is an entrepreneur with a disability who participated in the “Leader Plan”. He led his hometown to double the production. The programme enticed more than 1,000 households to participate in mango cultivation, including 221 disabled individuals, and all were happily rewarded.
